Plant fibre and frame

Deckled sheets from local growth

Fibre beaten from what grows around Mbayiyane, suspended in clear water and pulled slowly across the deckle frame.

Water and pulp

Suspended in clear water

Plant stalks are gathered, beaten into fine green fibre, and laid out across cotton cloths. As the water drains, the texture holds the quiet shape of stem and seed.

Drying slowly under warm daylight, each sheet retains the uneven edge of the mould and the natural tone of the local valley.
